Bahadur Shah Zafar in 1858, just after his show trial in Delhi and before his departure for exile in Rangoon. This is possibly the only photograph ever taken of a Mughal emperor: Zafar, photographed in about 1858 aged 82, as he awaited trial by the British for his part in the Indian Mutiny. Another verse reads:
